Champion updates, new hairstyles and more.

Once again, sorry I haven't posted lately. Schools finishing up so I've been busy, then I've been making some videos and devoting my free time to playing RS. Lately, I've been doing Stealing Creation. I need 28 hammers, and I splurged my precious 6.66m on 9975 oak planks so I can get 81 construction. Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with construction.

I also looked at the new updates. Most players either hate them, or think they're great. Due to the sheer awesomeness of those little imps, I think its a great update. The new hairstyles are a nice touch but meh, I don't really care about that. The little imp you can get from Champions Challenge is like a skillcape, showing you've put the time and effort into getting him. I've never gotten a challenge scroll, though I did beat a leprechaun champion in hand to hand combat.

I'll probably make another post later tonight, this was just to show you my readers (non existant as they are) that I still exist.

RS video

Me and my friend have started making RS videos and we made a short little skit, just to see what it was like. Thats the reason I've been busy. Oh, that and a new game I got.

Web of Shadows

Today the highly awaited Halloween Event for 2009 came out for Runescape, named Web of Shadows. Its one of the best holiday events yet, short, but not too short, with interesting puzzles that aren't ridiculously easy (though still fairly easy).

It takes place in the Grim Reapers house south of Falador, who is sitting on his throne, idly playing with a soul. He asks you to get rid of a spider in his bathtub. After heading up the stairs, you are presented with a rather amusing conversation with the massive spider. Apparently the Spider Queen ordered the spider in to exact vengeance against the Grim Reaper, who insulted her by not having any spider webs in his house on Halloween.

Your sent back to the Grim Reaper who sends you through a portal to the spider queen, but first you must overcome several obstacles. You need to cross several webs, some of which will hold your weight, some will collapse, the collapsing ones are different for every player so it just takes some trial and error.

Once you get to the ladder in the middle of the room, you arrive at another web-filled room, with web monkey bars, web bars to swing on, stepping stones and various other things. I didn't fall at all during this but that may have just been luck. You get to the ladder and climb up to a room full of spiders, and speak to the Spider Herald. At first he refuses you an audience, but when you say your a messenger for the Grim Reaper, he instantly lets you up to the Spider Queen, who says the spider will leave the bathtub if the Grim Reaper fills his house with spider webs for Halloween. You are assigned a small spider named Eek to spin webs and get sent back, where the Grim Reaper agrees to the spider webs. You and Eek go throughout the house, spinning webs on 64 pieces of furniture until you go back to the Grim Reaper and he sends you to the Spider Queen. She agrees to tell the spider in the bathtub to leave and rewards you with a cape made from spider webs, and Eek decides to go with you.

The rewards are in my opinion not very good, but I am rather picky. The spider cape is pretty basic, black and white and will certainly go good with the grim reaper hood and monk robes 50% of the F2P players are wearing with, and Eek is equippable, but very small on your hand. Eek can do a little animation where he hangs down on a web and you can hold amusing conversations with him.

Overlooked

So I had all my gear ready to go to the rock caverns, I was about to teleport. Then I realised I had no idea where it was so I got up the RS wiki article on it and when looking for the location saw one fact. The minimum level for it was 77. I don't know how I managed to overlook that, but I did. After I put all my gear in my bank I went to Sumona in the burning desert, and got my next tast, Fire Giants. I killed them, got a nice rune scimmy and then got my next task. Spiritual Warriors. I had no idea how to kill them or anything about them apart from the fact that they're in GWD. After a brief conversation with my fellow blogger Timothy Gold, I found out everything I needed, then got bored and logged off.

Slayer, Achievement Diaries and more

I finished off my Aberrant Spectre task, making a lot of cash from all the herbs and other junk, around 200-300k. I also did the Ardougne achievement diary which was pretty easy. I managed to find a penguin right near me when I was in Yanille, and with the teleports, the easy tasks were a breeze. I'm loving the look of the cape right now, it looks epic. Its no skillcape, but probably my favourite non skillcape cape.

I'm determined to go into the rock caverns this weekend and get a mining level or two, and to get another easy task done, probably the seers one. One thing I really didn't know was that every hour or so a level 200 Living Rock Patriarch spawns, giving the killer 200k worth of items every time its killed. I probably would be too distracted to get it, but I think its a great idea to make the rock caverns a bit more exciting.

Ardougne Achievement Diary

Today Jagex released a few new updates, including a new achievement diary for Ardougne. The rewards are some kind of cloak, which gives teleports and various updates like the Watchtower teleport becoming in Yanille's walls, better thieving chances and free P ess every day. Seriously, thats only a tiny bit of the full rewards. The diary includes Castle Wars, Combat Training Camp, Ardougne, Tower of Life and Ardougne.

Another update was an update to Duel Arena Tournaments. I've never really done one of those, so it'd probably be best if you read the update yourself, but apparently the registrar you get assigned has a rank cap and 2nd place gets 20% of the entry fee.

I've been trying to force myself to try the Living Rock Caverns, but I always put it off with more Arcanists. Eventually though, I'll get round to doing that, and at least the easy tasks for Ardougne. I'd like to get the easy armour from all the tasks so eventually I'll get the full achievement diary set.

I also killed some Aberrant Spectres tonight for slayer, to try out my new whip. I also brought along a Dragon Scimitar to get that strength level up and to my suprise, got 112 combat. Seeing as I was in combat, the message got skipped, but still, it was good.

Within the Launch

Jagex released a new developer diary which talks about the release of within the light and answers some questions. I advise you read it yourself, but basically, Prifddinas wasn't released because they've been busy with other things, such as WGS, Runescape HD and Summoning. They never planned to release the city with the release of the sequel to ME:II. We're going to hopefully get an elf quest some time next year, so the wait won't be too long.

For me, the holidays are over, so my WoW is also over. I'll be back to RS now, but to be honest, I seem to have gotten addicted to a game on Funorb called Arcanists, so it may be a few days until I really start playing. I guess we'll see.
